LĀLŪ, BHĀĪ, a Vij Khatrī, was initiated into Sikh faith by Gurū Arjan. The Gurū instructed him in the virtues of humility and of sharing, with others whatever one had to eat. Bhāī Santokh Siṅgh, Srī Gur Pratāp Sūraj Granth, mentions Bhāī Lālū's name among those who earned prominence for their diligent service during the excavation of the sacred pool at Amritsar. His name also figures in Bhāī Gurdās, Vārāṅ, XI. 18.
