MĀLLAṆ BHĀĪ, a native of ḍallā, in present-day Kapurthalā district of the Punjab, was a devoted Sikh of the time of Gurū Amar Dās. He waited on the Gurū as he once visited his village. The Gurū, says Bhāī Manī Siṅgh, Sikhāṅ dī Bhagat Mālā, advised him to serve holy men. Bhāī Mallaṇ became known for his piety and humility.
