RATAN KAUR, RĀṆĪ, widow of Sāhib Siṅgh, the Bhāṅgī chief of Gujrāt, was in 1811 taken by Mahārājā Raṇjīt Siṅgh under his mantle by the rite of chādar andāzī after the death of her husband. In 1819, she gave birth to Prince Multānā Siṅgh. She survived the Mahārājā, and was granted an annual pension of Rs 1,000 by the British.
