<p class="C1">&#65279RATTRAY alias LESLIE, an English soldier of fortune who served in Lahore during 1834-36 as one of the commandant of a battalion of the Sikh army. In 1836, he deserted the Sikh army to join the forces of Dost Muhammad <u>Kh</u>&#257n, Am&#299r of K&#257bul. He fought on the side of the Af<u>gh</u>&#257ns against the Sikhs in the battle of Jamr&#363d (1837). In K&#257bul, he converted a Muslim, under the name of Fid&#257 Muhammad <u>Kh</u>&#257n.</p>
